The Women, Gender and Development Reader

This is a reader, for undergraduates and development practitioners, that presents the best of the body of literature that has grown up alongside the acknowledgement that women play a critical role in the development process. The book is divided into five parts which cover, respectively: a review of the history of the theoretical debates; the status of women in the household and family; women in the global economy; the impacts of social changes on women's lives; and women organizing for change.
